Meridan formed after a chance meeting of Karl Zeleney and Valerios at a night market in Newtown Sydney where Valerios had a record and fanzine stall. Peter Zantey (Sadistik Exekution) and Karl had played together previously. Peter also played drums for Lemon Avenue after Stephen Metcalfe left the band. David Wilkinson worked at the studio where the band rehearsed and joined shortly after. The album 'Sundown Empire' is considered classic by many Goth rock fans. After issues with the bands label the band disbanded and Valerios moved to Melbourne. Tracks from the album still receive good airplay and the album is a must have by fans of the genre.
