The Deep Fix

 

Captain Mission's musical origins began in London where he fronted “The Blue Meanines”, a post punk new wave band. Later he relocated to West Berlin where he continued to make music with the ‘L’effant terrible’ Martin Von Donaldson. After relocating to Sydney the captain dropped out, tuned in and turned on, following the spirit and tradition of his mentors, Alistair Crowley, Israel Regarde, Timothy Leary, Robert Anton Wilson, Terence McKenna, Christopher Hyatt and Peter Carroll. Twenty years later he picks up where he left off..making a noise and writing words. 

 

When Valerios and Captain Mission first met to discuss the production of The Deep Fix's first Album 'Adventures In Love' the conversation took a turn from bands being mentioned such as Shriekback, The Sisters of Mercy and numerous other post punk acts to an odd connection they both shared to another LAIS band SND. This is a little bit classified for now but it paved the way to a well matched creative relationship that has so far resulted in 2 albums.

 

The first album 'Adventures in Love' saw the coming together of Captain Mission and Valerios to produce an ardent first release with a distinct fresh sound. Highlights include the hidden track 'Dead Bimbos' and the track "Heart Broken" from 'Adventures in Love' which has a strange radio play in the middle.

 

The 2nd album "Snuff Music" takes the listener on a journey with Captain Mission as he engages in contemplation and conversation with the fallen angel 'Lucifer' and reflects on what and who we have become. Dark, ominous electro pop has been used to describe this band but in the true tradition of Left As In Sinister releases this band is totally unique and defies classification. 

 

In producing the 2 albums Captain Mission would program loops and write lyrics. Valerios would arrange the tracks and play the other instruments although a sax player was bought in for both Albums (Louis Tessererio). Neven Zderic from Lemon Avenue also apperas as do a number of other musicians in Valerios Network.
