Mike Pougounas on the motivation of the King Pest lyrics -

The single and video for KING PEST is about to be released. The track is a collaboration between Mike Pougounas (Flowers of Romance, Nexus, New Zero God) and This Gentle Flow. The track marks 25 years of Left As In Sinister and celebrates the networking spirit which has kept the label and world underground alive.

Mike explains the motivation behind the lyrics:

"I’ve been a great fan of Edgar Allan Poe since I was little. As a child, my grandmother used to tell me haunting stories. A few years later, when I started reading his books and poems on my own, Poe’s world fascinated me. If I had to choose, I believe “King Pest” was one of the most psychedelic of Poe's writings. Was he an opium eater? Was his imagination fired by drugs? Who knows. One thing I am sure of, though: “King Pest” remains one of my favorite stories and I enjoyed the idea of writing these lyrics…"
